Pal in his younger days being shown at Halter at the World Appaloosa Horse Show

Once in a Lifetime

Once in a lifetime you may have the privilege to not only own, but exist with a great horse like Special Report (aka "Pal").  Because he is a perfect gentleman, I can take my grandchildren, friends, or guests into his stall at any time.  However, in the arena, I can watch him do outstanding spins, slides, and flying lead changes or watch him come alive working a cow.  It is an honor for God to let me be a part of Pal's life.  If I never had another horse, Pal would be all anyone could want.  (written by Larry Baker)

Heart's Desire Appaloosas was established in 1997 with the purchase of Pal from Tillman Ethridge of Ethridge Appaloosas.  Pal had already had a show career as a youngster and we decided to keep him going in that same direction.  Upon showing him, he received several Grands and Reserves at Halter with limited exposure.  It did not take long before he had his ROM in Halter.  He currently has 30.5 halter points.

We noticed from the time that we brought Pal home that he had tremendous athletic ability and we knew he was destined for the performance arena.  With the right trainers, Harvey Stevens and Marilyn Farley, Pal excelled in Reining and Working Cow Horse.  No more thinning and banding manes for him!

Pal is a gorgeous palomino Appaloosa with all the chrome.  He has a massive hip, chest, and forearm, cute baby doll head, athletic ability, intelligence, etc.  He has four white stockings, blaze face, white hip blanket, and foxy white tipped ears.  Pal has a beautiful long white mane and tail.  Pal stands 14.3+ hands and weighs approximately 1200 pounds.  He is built like a tank!  He is the product of the modern type of Appaloosa breeding.  Pal's 2008 stud fee will be offer by Private Treaty.  Pal is HYPP N/N.  He is 63% FPD certified.

As you can tell by Pal's bloodline, he was bred to be a halter horse.  But, oh, what a performance horse he is!  He has tremendous heart!  Pal's accomplishments are as follows:

  • ApHC Champion
  • Reserve World Champion in Snaffle Bit/Hackamore Reining
  • Reserve World Champion in Snaffle Bit/Hackamore Working Cow Horse
  • Bronze Medallion earner for High Point Working Cow Horse
  • ROM Halter
  • ROM Snaffle Bit/Hackamore Reining
  • ROM Snaffle Bit/Hackamore Working Cow Horse
  • ROM Junior Reining

Not only does Pal have these great accomplishments, but he loves working cattle.  Whether it be Working Cow Horse or Cutting---he can do it!  He will get down on his belly after a calf!  He is a fantastic horse!

Pal babies get a lot of his temperment---willing attitude, super smart, wonderful disposition, athletic ability, heart, etc.  He stamps his babies with his tremendous hip and overall muscle, pretty heads, and class.
